Precision innovation from
SOYL at LAMMA 18

Precision crop production leader, SOYL is at this year’s LAMMA event on 17thand 18th January.   At the event, SOYL will demonstrate the very latest in precision techniques to growers.

“We always look forward to LAMMA as an opportunity to catch up with growers and show them the latest precision tools we’re working on and bringing to farm. This year, we’re particularly excited to show farmers two new innovations – a tool to delve deeper into yield maps, and another that simplifies the use of granular applicators in precision farming,” says SOYL commercial director, Simon Parrington.

The two innovations are:

Deeper insight into yield maps

SOYL’s web-based precision crop service MySOYL has a new feature that enables growers to interactively change the focus on any particular yield performance map. This means the user can seek out areas based on specific performance criteria. For example, a grower might want to scrutinise all areas of their fields that don’t currently break-even in order to identify them for greening projects. With MySOYL they can more easily do that.

ZoneSwitch’ on/off control for granular applications

The ZoneSwitch is a hardware development that allows the automatic switching on or off of granular applicators. Distinct from variable rate applications, which will vary the rate of applied product, the ZoneSwitch detects that if a product should be applied or not. This allows the operator to automate patch application within fields and/or restrict application of products around features such as watercourses. Designed to work with the Custom Applications module in MySOYL, and compatible with the SOYL app iSOYL, the ZoneSwitch allows granular applications to be targeted in a straightforward way. The switch is compatible with all popular UK granular applicators from Stocks, Horstein and Techneat.

"Anyone who wants to learn more about these two new developments or using any other aspect of precision can visit our stand. We’re here to advise those who are well-established precision users as well as those completely new to it, adds Simon.

SOYL is also taking part in LAMMA’s BASIS Knowledge Trail.   Claim two BASIS points per day for attending the show and claim up to four extra points per day by taking part in the Knowledge Trail. A visit to the SOYL stands earns one point.
