Nutrient Mapping

SOYL provides GPS sampling, analysis and mapping services to provide you with detailed soil nutrient information to make informed management decisions.

Why?

By accurately identifying variations in phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and pH levels, you can:

> Reduce fertiliser and lime expenditure by only applying where needed

> Improve yield where nutrients or acidity are limiting factors

> Provide a nutrient management plan to justify fertiliser usage

> Reduce your environmental impact

> Comply with legal requirements and crop assurance regulations

> Receive annual fertiliser recommendations from our FACTS-qualified advisors.

How does it work?

A SOYL-trained sampler will sample your fields using GPS to map the precise location of each sample point. At SOYL we use strategic sampling, taking a minimum of one sample per hectare and 16 sub–samples at each sample point. These soil samples are independently analysed for phosphorous, potassium, magnesium and pH. Further specialist analysis can be added.

Based on the results, SOYL creates maps for each field showing the nutrient variation within it. These maps are instantly made available to you upon completion on MySOYL, which is part of Frontier’s MyFarm platform. They are available to view and analyse at any time.

Your local FACTS-qualified SOYL contact will help you to interpret and evaluate the nutrient maps to proceed in the most efficient way for your business. SOYL provides fertiliser recommendations based on your cropping, soil type, straw removal decisions and target yields. We can then provide variable rate spreading files for your GPS system.
