Software Developer - Newbury

We are looking for a developer, experienced with Javascript, to join our in-house development team. Feature development is driven by customer insight and decision making is quick. We keep you free of pointless meetings and boring conference calls to help you focus on building our great software product, MySOYL. The team of 4 works closely with our project co-ordinator and commercial director.

SOYL

SOYL is a European market leader in precision agriculture. Our online data platform, MySOYL, allows growers around the world to view and act upon key crop performance data.

SOYL introduced precision agriculture to the UK in 1993 and have been market leaders ever since. Our team of around 100 are committed to providing our farmer customers with useful data about their fields.

We operate as an independent managed division of a larger crop production business, Frontier Agriculture Ltd.

ROLE AND TECHNOLOGY STACK

MySOYL is a Single Page Application (SPA) built using AngularJS/Typescript on the front end, PHP web services link to our Python data services and MS SQL Server database. We keep all our libraries on the latest version, practice pair programming where appropriate and are flexible about the tools you may wish to use.

We are looking for:

2 years plus development experience using a Javascript based framework (Angular, React, Vue etc)

Experience in any of the following would also be useful:

Our software product – MySOYL – is designed to help farmers and their advisors collect, analyse and interpret layers of spatial data about their fields, soils and crops.

With an intuitive interface, MySOYL makes it easy to add, retrieve and alter information, as well as allowing accurate and effective modelling to test scenarios, without the need to step outside.

With all of this data in one place, growers are able to make intelligent, informed and most importantly, more profitable business decisions. The information generated can be compared, reviewed and analysed, taking a long-term look at trends to tailor future plans to meet the exact needs of the business.
